Wisps

A strange glow over the murky bog, flickering lights in the distance that lead travelers astray, ghostly spirits hovering over graveyards, emanations from another plane, or ephemeral, ethereal beings dancing in the forest by night.

They're known as will-o'-the-wisps, jack-o'-lanterns, ignis fatuus (foolish fire), corpse fire, fairies, ghost lights, or spook lights.

We'll just call them "wisps".

Wisps is a casual action game for iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad. Armed with a mason jar, venture into the moonlit forest and try to catch the mysterious winking lights called "wisps". Speed and accuracy are essential if you want to get a closer look at these elusive creatures. Move too slowly, or miss your mark, and they will disappear back into the night. Compete to become the best wisp catcher by earning a high score in a timed hunt, or enter free play mode to explore the mysteries of the forest at your own pace.

Wisps is designed by Jess Haskins, with iPhone programming and interface design by DongYoon Park, and music and sound by Justin Mathews.

The original Wisps prototype, shown below, was made in Processing by Jess Haskins.
